Wooson Gallery was founded in 2012 on the cultural district ‘Bongsan Culture and Art Street’ in Daegu, South Korea. The gallery building was newly constructed at the same year, specially designed for presentation of contemporary artworks. Wooson Gallery strives to introduce underrepresented Korean artists as well as great international contemporary creators from all around the world to Korean public.

Wooson Gallery sees its principal mission in introducing significant, paradigmatic artists of our epoch into the Korean art world and in museological integration of their work in Korea. Doing so, the gallery promotes a new kind of communication between art lovers and professionals such as critics and scholars, as well as helps the audience to establish an authentic contemporarily visual culture and contributes to the creation contemporary collections with high standard of knowledge of the international art production.

Wooson Gallery continues not only to focus on great, significant and epochal masters but also to introduce and promote young talented emerging artists in the global art scene through different international activities and collaborations. Each exhibition made by Wooson Gallery is accompanied by a serious publication with important academic essays so that publications become an important material to promote and encourage the young talented artists in Korea.

Wooson Gallery became one of the foremost private contemporary art galleries in Korea not only with its authentic exhibition program but also with its politics of promotion the emerging artists.
